This Acceptable Use Policy (“ Policy”) outlines certain prohibited or restricted uses of the Hosted Services offered by Coveo. This Policy applies to any users of the Hosted Services, which can include our customers, partners, users of trial versions of the Hosted Services. Any entity using a Coveo organization is responsible for ensuring compliance with this Policy by its users.

Unlawful Content. It is strictly prohibited to share or generate unlawful, tortious, defamatory, libelous, obscene or otherwise inappropriate content or material through the Hosted Services. This includes, but is not limited to content that:
- is obscene, harmful or violent, exploits or abuse children, constitutes offensive language, facilitate or promote criminal or illegal activities;
- is deceptive or untrue and is intended to manipulate the audience;
- attacks others based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, medical condition or other forms of discriminatory intolerance; and
- infringes on Coveo’s or a third party’s intellectual property or other rights, including copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or any other intellectual property right or contractual rights.

Prohibited Activities. The following actions are prohibited:
- engage in an activity that is harmful to, interferes with or limits the normal operation of the Hosted Services or compromise the integrity of the Hosted Services, such as transmitting viruses, malware, bots, worms, scripting exploits or other similar material;
- overwhelm or attempt to overwhelm Coveo’s infrastructure by imposing an unreasonably large load on the Hosted Services that consumes important resources, such as using “robots”, “spiders”, “offline readers” or other automated systems to send more request messages to Coveo’s servers than a human could reasonably send in the same period; and
- use the Hosted Services in a way that could otherwise cause damage to Coveo or any third party.
- Privacy. Coveo prohibits using the Hosted Services in a way that violates the privacy of individuals as protected under applicable privacy laws. It includes, but is not limited to, using the Hosted Services without providing the required notices and/or obtaining required consents, including verifiable parental consent under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act or similar laws.

Artificial Intelligence. When using any artificial intelligence tool (“ AI”) included in the Hosted Services, users must perform the following actions, in order to identify and limit, as appropriate, the risk of bias, use beyond intended purpose and other undesired effects:
- ensure that the datasets provided to the AI are appropriate and adequate for the intended use;
- ensure that AI that could reasonably be mistaken for humans is clearly identified as AI;
- implement adequate human oversight of the AI;
- establish and perform tests to mitigate risks of undesired effects (e.g. unethical effects); and
- monitor the operation of the AI for impacts, including through the use of feedback channels for end-users.
Coveo prohibits using the Hosted Services for the following purposes:- profiling decisions with significant effects (e.g., affecting legal, financial, or human rights) unless reviewed by a human who will take into account all relevant factors before the final decision;
- high-risk systems or uses, including as defined under the Regulation laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (“EU AI Act”) or under the Colorado AI Act, that could result in significant harm for the rights and freedoms of natural persons or vulnerable groups, are a substantial factor in making a consequential decision or other high-risk uses as otherwise identified by applicable laws;
- providing individualized advice that require a professional license (e.g. financial, legal, or medical advice); and
- generating undesirable content or otherwise using AI irresponsibly, including neglecting to properly manage negative consequences for individuals, groups, or society.
Coveo has the right, but is not obligated to, monitor or investigate content on the Hosted Services and their use to ensure compliance with this Policy and any other Agreement between Coveo and you regarding Hosted Services usage (“ Agreement”).
Capitalized terms used in this Policy but not defined hereunder shall have the meaning set forth in the Agreement. In the event of a conflict between this Policy and any Agreement, this Policy will take precedence but only to the extent required to resolve such conflict. Any violation of this Policy may result in the suspension or termination of your access to and use of the Hosted Services. Coveo may also remove any content that violates this Policy when necessary to limit Coveo and its users’ liability and mitigate risks.
Coveo may update this Policy by posting an updated version to its website. By continuing to use the Hosted Services after a revised version of the Policy has been posted, any user of the Hosted Services thereby agrees to comply with the then-current version of this Policy.
