With the ultimate goal of improving customer and employee engagement, Mathematica sought to implement a search platform that could also seamlessly integrate with Sitecore, their existing content management system (CMS). When Google sunset Google Search Appliance (GSA) in 2016, they knew it was the perfect opportunity to rethink the way the organization could provide relevant content throughout their customer and employee experience.
Even though the team faced several challenges — such as complex indexing scenarios such as intranet and public content existing in the same CMS environment — the cost-effective transition met customer and employee needs by creating a positive experience and improving the work environment.
