Built with Sitecore developers and system integrator partners in mind, Coveo for Sitecore – Free Edition was introduced a little over a year ago to loud cheers from the Sitecore community. “Coveo for Sitecore Free Edition … is a winner,” wrote Darren Guarnaccia, EVP of Customer Experience at Sitecore.
Market response to the Free Edition has been very strong. Hundreds of companies, such as Sub-Zero, Ansell and IFS World, use Coveo for Sitecore to create engaging site search experiences for website visitors. In fact, demand has been so great, our customers and partners requested that we come up with a way to help them identify highly qualified Coveo for Sitecore developers.
So today, I’m very excited to introduce the Coveo for Sitecore Developer Certification program. The program allows developers who have been trained on Coveo for Sitecore 3.0 to take an examination and be certified on the product. The goal of the certification exam is to ascertain if you assimilated the concepts taught at the Coveo for Sitecore 3.0 developer training, are knowledgeable about the subject, and have the skills to integrate Coveo intelligent search in Sitecore.
There are many benefits to becoming a certified developer. For instance, you’ll:
- Gain early access to beta versions of the product
- Be recommended to our prospects and customers for Coveo for Sitecore projects
- Enjoy increased visibility on our Coveo for Sitecore communities such as answers.coveo.com

The certification is for life and specific to that product version. Once you’re certified, we plan to offer an easy path to maintain your certification on future releases.
The process to be certified as a Coveo for Sitecore Developer is fairly simple:
- Attend a Coveo for Sitecore developer training course
- Take the exam online at your convenience
- Pass and receive your Coveo for Sitecore Developer certificate. You’ll be added to our list of certified developers.
- Share the news about your well-earned recognition!
The exam costs US$500/attempt and you need to complete it within three hours. The certification exam will be included in all future developer training courses. The first exam is complimentary if you complete the training course.
We are reaching out to people who have been trained on Coveo for Sitecore 3.0 to offer them the opportunity to take the certification exam at no cost. Trained developers have unlimited time to study before starting the exam, and the invitation links we are sharing never expire. So far, we already have three developers who have passed the test! (Congratulations Ian Jones from Aqueduct, Grant Killian from Rackspace and Albraa Al Nabelsi from TechGuilds!)
While the process is straightforward, the exam is intentionally rigorous to ensure that certified developers have an in-depth understanding of Coveo for Sitecore 3.0. (Be warned: The passing mark is 70%!)
